OBJECTIVE
The Cassovia Medi Valley cluster has a clear vision. It puts emphasis on innovative technological solutions in the field of biomedicine that increase quality of life and health and, at the same time, improve the quality of regional and hence also the national potential.
One of the key objectives of CMV is to become an important national cluster operating in the field of medicine, pharmacy and cosmetics. In order to fulfil this objective, the cluster wants to create space for Slovak start-ups in order to support their activities and facilitate their development in the field of biomedicine, and hence improve their competitiveness in the global environment. In this regard, the cluster emphasises that in the long run it is necessary to create a smart healthcare system that would approach the vision of the European Commission presented in the strategic document Open Innovation 2.0, in which the emphasis is put on the application of novel approaches in the fight for the shared values, such as public health, prosperity, growth and sustainability in ecology.
Therefore, in the long run the CMV plans to provide a complex system of developmental and innovation services in the Slovak and European markets, and hence become one of the successful national and European research networks. CMV supports the concept of the European Commission by strengthening the synergy between businesses, scientific entities, educational institutions, policy makers, regional authorities and end users. A result is the existence of a unique innovative, cooperative and creative platform that produces technological and knowledge capacities in the regional environment.
In order to fulfil that vision, the cluster’s priority is to:

Create conditions for and ensure technical, material, personnel and organisational infrastructure;

Interconnect manufacturing companies;

Create a platform for sharing strategic information by its members and partners with the aim of mutually supporting their own activities related to the development of the Eastern Slovakia Region;

Integrate into national and European research networks;

Conduct its own wide-spectrum, customer-oriented research and development and apply its results in form of concrete innovative products.
The Cassovia Medi Valley cluster’s
activities focus on research and development, innovations, education and business activities. Based on this vision, under the supervision of the town of Košice, Košice Self-Governing Region, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Technical University of Košice, L. Pasteur University Hospital in Košice, MM MEDICAL s.r.o., as well as other partners and companies, several priority research areas will be formed. For the purpose of increasing the attractiveness of the region for investors, the CMV interconnects competing entities, which will thus contribute to building a scientific and expert community and create a functional communication channel between educational institutions, hospitals, business entities and the regional self-government authorities.
INTENTION
The key intention of the Science and Research Park and the Cassovia Medi Valley cluster is to build strong foundations for the development of the medical industry. Its effective functioning and achievements are preconditioned by creating intensive bonds between the research activities conducted by renowned educational institutions in the region and the industrial manufacturers. CMV sees a source of the human capital for its own activities in talented students of partner universities, for whom it will create optimal conditions in order to prevent the brain drain.
A long-term intention of the Cassovia Medi Valley cluster is to support through highly professional activities the interregional collaboration among universities, hospitals, the town of Košice, Košice Self-governing Region and renowned business companies with the aim of making the region more attractive for potential investors and create conditions for effective business. CMV pursues this plan by strengthening the synergy between businesses, scientific entities and educational institutions, policy makers, regional authorities and end users. A result is the existence of a unique innovative, cooperative and creative platform that produces technological and knowledge capacities in the regional environment.

What is Cassovia Medi Valley?
Cassovia Medi Valley (CMV) is a cluster of subjects based in the Eastern Slovakia Region; it includes universities, research institutions, healthcare facilities, enterprises and regional self-government authorities. CMV's primary concern is to coordinate research, scientific, developmental and innovation activities performed by entities engaged in a regional partnership. CMV facilitates creating a new level of sustainable regional cooperation among highly successful organisations that share the vision of transforming the town of Košice and the Košice Self-Governing Region into a scientific, research and innovation area with an ambition to achieve the level of its national, European and global partners. The key idea of the cluster is to become a centre for the support and application of knowledge and information possessed by the young generation in the field of medicine, pharmacy and cosmetics.
